Gustavo Ghianda aka ¨The Cowboy¨ (b. Argentina 1984) is an artist with multiple interests who focuses and channels his existential concerns on photography. Currently based in London, his training is fundamentally self-taught, although he also took different courses on photography and image at the following institutions: EFC (Andy Goldstein), Asociación de Reporteros Gráficos de la República Argentina, Instituto Universitario Nacional de las Artes and Centre Cívic Pati Llimona
His interest in photography began at the age of 23 when he bought a camera by chance and soon discovered in it a great tool for expression and experimentation. As his interest in photography increased he began a deep investigative work on the history of visual arts finding in Cartier-Bresson and Caravaggio a great reference. Gustavo’s photography is usually classified as surrealist. In 2010, he was selected in the photography contest ¨Sin Sentido?¨ organized by the Sociedad Argentina de Galerías de Arte from Buenos Aires. He has also participated in different exhibitions in the City of Buenos Aires and London.
His histrionics and sympathy allows him a unique closeness and empathy to people when it comes to portraying. His artistic search is focused in the human condition, specificcally, in the relationship between the Individual and the Society. Delving into the sufferings that generate the second one in the first one and the need for emancipation of the Individual of Society. The passion, enthusiasm, sensivity and creativity that he has defines him like a tireless photographer whose search is intended to highlight beauty overall.
¨Be your own hero, I will be there to capture the best moments of your life¨
